[tab name="en"]Took this photo at Neemrana Fort which is a heritage hotel just a little inside the Rajasthan border of Haryana on Delhi-Jaipur highway. It was rebuilt in 1990s by Neemrana Hotels in the image of the 14th century medieval fortress that stood at this site by same name.

This town, Neemrana, is an ancient town in Alwar district of Rajasthan which was once ruled by Chauhan rajputs, of the clan of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. Historians believe that this once used to be a part of Matsya Republic of Mahabharat period in whose capital, Viratnagar, the Pandavas spent their 13th and final year in exile before they waged the war of Mahabharat against their cousins Kauravas for the right to their kingdom of Indraprastha.

This town is situated in the foothills of Aravali Mountains in a horse-shoe shaped valley which made it a secure and defensible fortress against attacks from other neighbouring kingdoms as rajputs used to be at war amongst themselves quite a lot in medieval period.[/tab] [tab name="hi"]यह फोटो नीमराणा किले में ली थी जो कि आज एक हेरिटेज होटल है। दिल्ली-जयपुर राजमार्ग पर हरयाणा से लगी राजस्थान की सीमा के थोड़ा भीतर स्थित नीमराणा का यह किला 1990 के दशक में नीमराणा होटल समूह द्वारा इस जगह स्थित मध्यकालीन नीमराणा किले की लगभग हूबहू नकल के रूप में पुनर्निर्मित कराया गया था।

नीमराणा राजस्थान के अलवर ज़िले में स्थित एक छोटा सा शहर है जिस पर पृथ्विराज चौहान के संबन्धी चौहान राजपूतों का चौदहवीं शताब्दी के आसपास तक राज होता था। इतिहासकारों का मानना है कि यह इलाका महाभारत कालीन मत्सय जनपद में आता था जिसकी राजधानी विराटनगर में पाण्डवों ने, इंद्रप्रस्थ पर अपने अधिकार के लिए कौरवों के साथ महाभारत का युद्ध लड़ने से पहले, अपने वनवास का तेरहवां और अंतिम वर्ष अज्ञातवास के रूप में बिताया था।

नीमराणा अरावली की पहाड़ियों की एक वादी में बसा हुआ है जिसका आकार घोड़े की नाल की भांति है जो कि तीन दिशाओं से पहाड़ियों से घिरी हुई है जिसके कारण इसकी सुरक्षा किसी भी अन्य राज्य के आक्रमण के समय आसानी से की जा सकती थी, क्योंकि राजपूत राजा मध्यकालीन युग में आपस में अक्सर लड़ते रहते थे।[/tab]
