Situated on the banks of Danube on the Pest side, it was inagurated in 1896 on the 1000th anniversary of the founding of Hungarian nation. Its construction is of no less interest. 40 million bricks, half million precious stones and 40kg of gold was used in its construction!!
It looks very similar to British Houses of Parliament aka Westminster Palace, just like Westminster Palace it was also built in Gothic style.
Among other things, this building also houses the Hungarian Crown Jewels and the crown of St. Stephen, founder & 1st king of Hungary, which is also the national emblem of Hungary.[/tab] [tab name="hi"]यह हंगरी का संसद भवन है जो कि डैन्यूब नदी के किनारे पेस्ट में स्थित है। यह योरोप की सबसे पुरानी वैधानिक इमारतों में से एक है और हंगरी की सबसे बड़ी इमारत है तथा योरोप में दूसरा सबसे बड़ा संसद भवन है।
इस भवन का उद्घाटन सन् 1896 में हंगरी की 1000 वीं वर्षगाँठ पर हुआ था। इसके निर्माण के आंकड़े भी बड़े रोचक हैं। इसको बनाने में चार करोड़ ईंटें, पाँच लाख बहुमूल्य पत्थर और चालीस किलो सोना लगा था। गॉथिक स्टाइल में बना यह भवन बिलकुल ब्रिटिश संसद भवन वेस्टमिन्स्टर पैलेस जैसा लगता है जो कि गॉथिक स्टाइल का एक और उदाहरण है।
अन्य चीज़ों के साथ-२ इस हंगरियन संसद भवन में हंगरी के शाही जवाहरात और हंगरी के पहले राजा और राष्ट्रपिता संत स्टीफन का एक हज़ार वर्ष पुराना ताज भी रखा है जो कि हंगरी का राष्ट्रीय चिन्ह भी है।[/tab]

Thanks Aks. This boat in the photo actually overtook our boat in which we came all the way from Visegrád which is some 20km from Budapest. Our boat was docking at a pier on Buda side & this boat rushed past us. Looked like a great shot to me(I was already framing Hungarian Parliament building) & I took it! 🙂

Garima, thanks for liking it. The photo is in colour also because I take all photos in colour and convert them to black & white on PC only as it gives more shades. 🙂
