[tab name="en"]This sculpture is part of what remains of Mahadev Temple in Khajuraho & is one of the best sculptures present there. Not much remains of Mahadev Temple, situated between Kandariya Mahadev Temple and Jagdambi Temple. A woman is shown in this sculpture to be kneeling before a lion & it kinda looks like she's trying to seduce it.

When I looked around internet for more info on this, I came across a couple of websites which said that its not certain whether the kneeling human figure is a man or a woman. I don't know about them but I know its a woman since men definitely didn't wear brassiere! 😀 [/tab] [tab name="hi"]खजुराहो के हज़ार वर्ष पुराने मंदिरों में महादेव मंदिर के अवशेषों में एक यह मूर्ति भी है जो कि खजुराहो के मंदिरों में मौजूद अन्य मूर्तियों से बढ़िया तो है ही, कद्‌रन काफ़ी अच्छी हालत में भी है। कन्दरिया महादेव मंदिर और जगदम्बी मंदिर के बीच स्थित महादेव मंदिर का बहुत कुछ समय की धूल के साथ विलुप्त हो चुका है, यह मंदिर अपने दोनों पड़ोसी मंदिरों के मुकाबले काफ़ी छोटा है। इस मूर्ति में एक स्त्री एक सिंह के आगे झुकी हुई दिखाई गई है, उसकी मुद्रा को देख यही लगता है कि उसको सिंह को मोहित करते हुए दिखाया गया है।

इंटरनेट पर जब मैंने इस मंदिर और इस मूर्ति के विषय में अधिक जानकारी प्राप्त करने के लिए खोज की तो एक-दो वेबसाइट पर यह लिखा पाया कि यह निश्चित नहीं हुआ है कि मूर्ति में दर्शाया मनुष्य स्त्री है या पुरूष। अब उन वेबसाइट वालों का तो पता नहीं लेकिन मुझे इतना पता है कि इस मूर्ति में स्त्री है क्योंकि कम से कम पुरुष अंगिया नहीं पहनते थे! 😀 [/tab]

And I too think its a female… men do not wear brassieres coz they DON’T have breasts!!! 🙄

It is an exquisite photograph. Well captured, and love the lighting in it. It is definitely a female, given the hair and her breasts…..
